Bladder Stone Operation

10.jpg - 24787 Bytes Dr. Lucas examines Tabitha, a very sweet 2 year old Peke- a - Poo that has bladder stones. The bladder stones have been causing Tabitha to pass blood and strain when she urinates. This is a very uncomfortable condition for Tabitha that will require surgery to correct.


Tabitha's x ray reveals 2 large bladder stones, also known as "uroliths". The white arrow points out the largest stone. 11.jpg - 13783 Bytes

14.jpg - 30518 Bytes The sterile instruments have been autoclaved at very high temperatures and are arranged in preparation for surgery. Sterile drapes have been placed to keep the surgery field sterile during the operation.

and elevated the bladder.

The bladder is flushed with sterile saline to ensure that there are no smaller bladder stones present in the urethra (urine tube). 17.jpg - 31236 Bytes
